General questions about the blinds
All our roller and roman blinds conform with the Child Safety European legislation (EN13120).
The purpose of this safety standard is to minimise the risk that children are seriously injured by the cord.
The legislation specifies that all blind cord/chains must be fixed to the wall with an accumulation device (cleat to secure excess cord) and the length of the cord or chain must be a minimum 150cm off the ground.
All our chain pull blinds come with tension devices, our cord pull blinds come with cleats and a patented breakaway safety device at the reverse of the blind. This device breaks open when undue weight is applied to the cords. It can easily be repaired if this is done by accident.
Our installation guides advise you to install the blind at least 150 cm from the floor, and that cots and furniture are not placed near the blinds.
As we do not know where the fitting height is in your home or project there is a maximum cord and chain length that we can supply to you.
All of our roller blinds can be vacuumed with a small suction, we recommend using a brush suitable for the vacuum cleaner. Our bamboo blinds can also be wiped over carefully with a wrung-out damp cloth.

Most of our blinds are transparent, some are more than others. If you are looking for a blind that offers privacy, we would recommend our Privacy blinds. We also always recommend that you order a free sample before ordering, to ensure that fabric meet any expectations.
Bamboo and jute are extremely durable and resilient materials that can withstand climate changes and damp areas. When exposed to direct sunlight they will naturally age overtime, some designs will become lighter while others can appear more golden.
As a material, bamboo can hold up well for outdoor use if the blinds hang dry. The blinds can withstand water as Bamboo is an incredibly strong material however wind and weather can corrode the cords, threads and locks. You must be aware that the warranty lapses if the curtains are hung outdoors. We recommend choosing natural blinds for outdoor use, as the natural blinds fade less than the coloured blinds. The blinds should only be hung outside during the summer. They may also be treated with a NANO spray, or a neutral furniture oil, to make them more resistant.
Bamboo being a natural material, will have variations in colour and texture, each blind will be unique. Small differences may occur and we can not always guarantee colour matching. The colour will depend on the batch of bamboo used for your blind and the absorption level of any stained and coloured design. We always try very hard to achieve consistency and always use blinds that are similar in your order.
Yes, all our blinds can be hung in moist areas. However, we do not recommend hanging the blinds in direct contact with water, for instance inside the shower area.
Our Blinds and materials have a Fire Retardancy rating of: NOT RATED. Our materials have not been tested for its ability to withstand fire.
- There is no mandatory or legal requirement for Blinds to meet any fire standards or to have a fire rating. This applies to contract/ commercial/ public spaces.
- The government has produced risk assessments for various public/ contract spaces (hotels/ hospitals/ offices/ retail spaces, etc) and they each have their own risk assessment level. For example hotels are classified as medium risk. You are advised to contact your county fire officer. Requirements will depend upon the exact circumstances. Fire Officers are usually very helpful when consulted.
Materials that are required to be Fire Retardant and are not rated can only be used if they are first chemically treated with a fire retardant treatment. Chemical treatment consists of either soaking the material in a fire retardant chemical or back-coating it with fire retardant. These treatments are quite straightforward but are not suitable for every material.

Our bamboo blinds are made of a natural material. Small imperfections may occur, which is a natural and unavoidable part of a unique and natural product. Therefore, these imperfections cannot be regarded as defects.
In time, our blinds may become discoloured in the sun. To avoid discolouration, we recommend not hanging the blinds in direct sunlight, or treating them with an UV spray or a natural oil or lacquer.
Cord pull blinds
We use high quality, beautiful, and natural materials that do not undergo any treatments or have any harsh chemicals leaving them to their raw nature.
Bamboo is a very flexible material and some lighter weight designs will have looser thread work than others, it is good to know that the blinds can shift from side to side.
Bamboo and jute sometimes tends to angle inwards if it is too light, this can be more noticeable with cord pull roller blinds when the blind is completely unrolled. It is very helpful to add some extra fabric to the roll to create weight and stability for when the blind is down.
If you have any questions, please contact us.
The cord can be replaced.
Please send an email to customerservice@colorco.dk
If it’s happened within the 24 month guarantee period, we will send you a new cord right away.
On roller blinds with cord pull, the cord will always be on the right side as the standard. The option to change the cord pull so the cords are on the left side is available for a fee of 48GBP.
Yes, hooks and a cord cleats can be found in a small bag rolled up in the blind. Sometimes the bag is rolled into the bottom of the roll. If the bag is missing, please contact us at customerservice@colorco.dk, and we will send you a new set.
The top of the roller blind with cord pull has 2-3 fittings depending on the width of the blind. Two for blinds from 30-120 cm, three for blinds wider than 120 cm, and up to four for extra large blinds up to 240 cm in width. The pulley comes in two colours (silver and black) for our bamboo blinds and in two colours for our natural plant blinds (white and brown).
All of our blinds can be installed both vertically and horizontally with the hooks and brackets that are supplied with the blinds. If you have a question about installing the hooks, please get in contact us and include an image of your window.
All of our blinds can easily be installed by yourself at home. However for our blinds in an XL size, we recommend that you have an extra set of hands to help. Please see our instructions for further information here.
The cleat and pulley comes with standard colouring, and is different depending on the design of the blind. The pulleys are either silver or black on our bamboo roller blinds. The colour of the pulleys are either white or brown on all of our natural plant blinds.
Bamboo is a delicate and light material, so the roll is not very big. For the largest blinds with the thickest fabric, such as Brown Privacy Bamboo, the roll measures a maximum of 10 cm in diameter at a length of 230 cm. On our smallest blinds with the finest fabric, the diameter of the roll is a maximum of 5 cm, such as Brown Fine Bamboo at a length of 160 cm.
Please note, we only measure the diameter of the roll when fully rolled up. This can not be applied to any blinds that are less than 160 cm and more than 230 cm. If you have any specific questions, please contact us.
Due to the construction of the slats of the blinds, we can unfortunately not always guarantee hitting your measurements 100%. There is an error margin of up to 0.5 cm. If the blinds exceed the trimming measurement, we will cut the blinds according to these.
We recommend keeping a small roll of fabric at the bottom of the blind of at least 10 cm.
For example, if your window recess drop is 132 cm + 10 cm = finished blind height 142 cm.
Keeping a roll of fabric at the bottom of the blind will help create weight and stability, it will also make rolling the blind up and down easier. Bamboo tends to angle inwards when it is too light, this will be more noticeable when the blind is completely unrolled. On occasion and due to the nature of the bamboo it can also retract and expand in height, these are a few reasons why we recommend adding on the extra fabric.
It is important to know this is a natural occurrence and it is not deemed to be a defect in product. If you have any questions, please contact us.
We only recommend deducting 2 cm if you are hanging the blind inside a recess. If you are hanging the blind outside of a recess, you need to measure where you would like the blind to hang.
Deducting the 2 cm from the recess width will allow enough room for the blinds to shift from side to side when you are rolling them up and down, and prevent any damage to the bamboo.
If you have any questions, please contact us.
Deducting 2 cm from the recess width still applies. We also recommend deducting another 1 cm for in between the blinds.
For example if your recess width is 219 cm and you are hanging two blinds inside the recess: 219 cm – 3 cm = 216 cm. The finished widths for both blinds would be 108 cm.
If you are having trouble or have any doubts, please email customerservice@colorco.dk and our team will happily assist.

This can vary with chain pull blinds, depending on the thickness of the fabric and the size of the components used to make the blind. Due to all chain pull blinds being custom size, we recommend to email customerservice@colorco.dk with your measurements and we can give you an idea of the roll size
